BEACH ACCESS BATTLE

A reminder to all of us, there are NO private beaches in California. A Laguna Beach woman found out the hard way that you can't just rope off the sand in front of your waterfront property and try to kick out a family enjoying a sunny day at the beach. In SoCal, the sand is for everyone!

The Video- Warning ‘Rough’ Language

First, watch this video to see what recently transpired. Be aware that some sharp language is exchanged.

Quick Catchup

  • The mom in the video is named Rosie Garcia, she is from Oklahoma and was on vacation with her family when the homeowner started harassing them.

📌The homeowner was served with a notice of violation by the California Coastal Commission.

📌Investigators say the woman verbally harassed the beachgoers and that roping off any portion of a public beach is illegal.

📌She now has two weeks to notify them of how she plans to proceed.

📌 If she does not comply with their request, she can be fined as much as $11,000 a day.

The Law

  • The California Coastal Act (est. 1976) protects the public’s access to our state beaches.

  • The bottom line is oceanfront homeowners can’t legally stop people from hanging out on the sand in front of their homes.

  • If you want to read more about this issue, wealthy Malibu residents have been fighting this for about 50 years, known as the Billionaire Beach Battle.

SENATE DEBATES

Steve Garvey and Adam Schiff have committed to two high-profile statewide debates: one on ABC stations across California and the other on Nexstar-owned channels. Dates are yet to be announced.

In the meantime, with roughly less than 90 days until November 5, the candidates are hitting the campaign trail. Republican Garvey is making appearances at Dodger games, while Democrat Schiff is touring the state, rallying support for fellow Democrats running for office.

(un)Official Poll Results

Last week, we asked if Steve Garvey could challenge Adam Schiff in a heavily blue state like California and win voters for the November 5 Senate race.

Here are the results of that (un)official Netter News Poll.
