Update on Prop 50 case (There are 19 plaintiffs, including Mike Netter, along with the Department of Justice of the United States)

  • First hearing December 15th

  • See entire complaint link here

California's Proposition 50 has been approved by voters and is currently the subject of an ongoing federal legal case led by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the California Republican Party. The lawsuits seek to block the new, legislature-drawn congressional map from being used in the 2026 elections.

  • Plaintiffs: The California Republican Party filed a federal lawsuit the day after the election, and the U.S. Department of Justice officially intervened as a plaintiff on November 13, 2025.

  • Allegations: The lawsuits allege that the new maps constitute an unconstitutional racial gerrymander that favors Hispanic voters over others, in violation of the 14th and 15th Amendments and the Voting Rights Act.

  • Court Proceedings: A three-judge panel is scheduled to begin hearing arguments in the case on December 15, 2025, in Los Angeles, with a verdict expected by February 7, 2026.

  • Potential Outcome: It is widely expected that the losing side in the federal case will appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of the United States.

  • Prior Rulings: Pre-election lawsuits filed in state and federal courts to stop the measure from going to a vote were dismissed.

The legal battle will ultimately determine if the new boundaries take effect for the 2026 midterm elections.

You May have Noticed No More 'Paper or Plastic' Option at the Supermarket. Here's Why:

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • California is about to permanently end the “paper or plastic?” option at grocery‑store checkout.

  • Starting January 1, 2026, all plastic carry‑out bags — including the thicker “reusable plastic bags” that became common after earlier bans — will be banned across the state.

  • Stores will only be allowed to offer recycled‑paper bags (or certified compostable alternatives) for a minimum charge of 10 cents per bag. By 2028, those paper bags must be made from at least 50% post‑consumer recycled material.

  • The move is intended to curb plastic waste and microplastic pollution that critics say remained high even after the original plastic‑bag ban.

  • In short: when you go to checkout in California after New Year’s, you’ll be asked: “Paper bag or reusable bag?” — not “Paper or plastic?”

Byrna Files Lawsuit Against CA for Blocking Ammunition Sales of Less-Lethal Weapons

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Byrna, a company that manufactures self-defense launchers firing irritant projectiles instead of bullets, has filed a federal lawsuit challenging California’s prohibition on its ammunition and launchers.

  • They argue that these less‑lethal weapons are protected under the Second Amendment, just as non‑lethal firearms like stun guns have been recognized as “bearable arms.”

  • California law currently bans “pepper projectile launchers,” limiting self-defense options to small-size aerosol pepper spray, effectively denying citizens access to an intermediate self-defense tool between spray and lethal weapons.

  • The lawsuit contends that forcing residents to choose between minimal spray or lethal firearms is illogical and unconstitutional.

  • Byrna seeks a court ruling to strike down the ban and allow law-abiding Californians access to their products.

  • The case frames the ban as a denial of practical self-protection rights rather than a legitimate public-safety restriction.

Pacific Palisades Rebuilding Obstruction: The California Coastal Commission

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The article accuses the Coastal Commission of blocking and obstructing home‑rebuilding efforts in the Palisades, Malibu, and other fire‑ravaged areas — even after a catastrophic blaze destroyed thousands of homes.

  • It argues the agency has long overstepped its original mandate of protecting the coast, instead using its regulatory power to dominate local governments and deny property‑owners their rights.

  • Despite executive orders from the governor suspending certain environmental and coastal‑zone permitting rules to speed rebuilding, the CCC allegedly continued to interfere, prompting lawsuits and fierce criticism from property‑rights advocates.

  • The article frames the CCC’s actions as part of a pattern of power abuse, not genuine environmental protection — likening the agency to a “bureaucratic mafia” threatening homeowners with extortion, fines, and arbitrary denials.

  • Ultimately, it warns that unless the CCC’s authority is reined in, many wildfire victims will never be able to rebuild — trapped by red tape rather than helped by it.

Inside the Ideological Prison Driving California’s Decline

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The article argues that California’s political class has trapped the state in an “ideological prison,” where rigid ideological orthodoxy suppresses common-sense governance and punishes dissent.

  • Policies driven by this mindset—including aggressive environmental mandates, expansive welfare and regulatory burdens, and restrictive criminal justice reforms—are blamed for soaring costs, widespread homelessness, rising crime, and mass exodus of residents and businesses.

  • The author contends that rather than responding to failures, the political elite double down: when problems worsen, they prioritize further ideological measures over practical fixes, resulting in a cycle of decline and rewriting of cultural norms.

  • Data cited include the dramatic loss of taxpayers and businesses, poor student performance, and shrinking middle class — all offered as evidence that the state’s ideology-first approach is hollowing out California from within.

  • The piece frames the political leadership as more interested in virtue signaling and redistribution than protecting public order, economic opportunity, or infrastructure.

  • Ultimately, the article paints a bleak picture: unless California abandons this ideological prison, its decline — economic, social, and cultural — will only accelerate.

The underbelly of California politics turned inside out this week.

GO CALIFORNIA with @taxfighter7 @nettermike and KURT on CFR.

Anne Fundner is a dynamic force for change, weaving her media expertise and political insight into a compelling narrative that inspires audiences nationwide. A dedicated mother of four and wife, she has always placed family first, immersing herself in her children’s school activities, sports, and dinners at the dinner table with her family nightly, while her twice-weekly church attendance reflects a deep faith that infuses her message with authenticity.

Anne honed her broadcasting skills in Southern California, hosting a political talk show on TV and radio until the tragic loss of her son, Weston, to Fentanyl poisoning in 2022 turned her world upside down. This devastating event sparked her relentless mission to combat the Fentanyl crisis, educating parents, children, and young adults about its dangers, particularly the pressures of peers. Anne channels her grief into action, delivering powerful calls to action through her impactful speaking engagements, where she fights the scourge of Fentanyl in memory of her son Weston, including:

  • 2024 Republican National Convention’s “Everyday People – Border Crisis” evening, where she shared the story of her beautiful firstborn son Weston, spotlighting the Fentanyl crisis tied to border security. She called out the Biden Administration and even Governor Newsom for causing this devastation directly, which took her son’s life.

  • House Judiciary Committee, testifying against the Biden Administration’s open border policies, which she faults for taking her son’s life.

  • Multiple Trump rallies, where she advocated for a leader, President Donald Trump, who would fix this crisis and get the job done, sharing her son’s story.

  • Trump 2024 Campaign Surrogate

  • Kristy Noem (Jan 2025) DHS Confirmation Surrogate

  • Department of Justice, joining President Donald Trump on stage to deliver remarks on March 14, 2025, with Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and other key figures, amplifying her mission.

  • Department of Homeland Security, joining Kristi Noem for the reopening of the voice department at ICE headquarters.

  • Delivering a powerful speech about her Son Weston at the candlelight vigil at the Department of Justice, April 9th, 2024

  • Delivered remarks beside President Trump at the HALT Fentanyl Act signing, thanking him for his decisive border security leadership that’s crushing fentanyl trafficking and saving American lives.

  • Attending and supporting ONDCP Director Sara Carter Senate confirmation hearing.

  • Mini Documentary- “Collateral Damage,” Independent Women’s Forum, in collaboration with The American Border Story.

  • Countless media, events, and speaking engagements, including Whitehouse statements, op-Ed’s, and statements for other departments such as Dept of Treasury, DHS, DOJ, FBI, and extending her reach of fentanyl fighting advocacy for others due to the story of her son.

A lifelong conservative, Anne has proudly supported President Trump and champions his policies, especially on border security. She is tirelessly advancing "Weston’s Law," a proposed legislation to criminalize grooming behaviors and drug dealers in NJ, and will be working with Congress, the Judiciary Committee, and individual and multi-state efforts.

Beyond her Fentanyl fight, Anne stands firm for parental rights and school choice, safeguarding her three living children from woke ideology and broader agendas affecting families.

While she once hosted the "American Mom" podcast to tackle family concerns, her focus has shifted to speaking and community advocacy, elevating local issues to national prominence.

Whether addressing political gatherings, community forums, or educational events, Anne connects deeply, offering not just insights but actionable solutions with unwavering clarity and conviction. Follow her journey and advocacy on X and Instagram at @AnneElizabethUS.
