Newsom in Bed with China? New Book Raises Questions

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • A new book titled "Fool's Gold: The Radicals, Con Artists, and Traitors Who Killed the California Dream and Now Threaten Us All" scrutinizes California Governor Gavin Newsom's connections with Chinese entities linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

  • The authors, Jedd McFatter and Susan Crabtree, detail Newsom's establishment of ChinaSF, a public-private partnership aimed at attracting Chinese businesses to San Francisco, which allegedly facilitated the entry of corrupt CCP-aligned corporations into the state.

  • The book highlights instances such as the recruitment of Suntech, a Chinese solar company, and the involvement of Chinese real estate firms, including Z&L Properties, whose owner was later convicted of bribery.

  • Additionally, concerns are raised about the influx of Chinese biotech companies with minimal vetting, notably JOINN Laboratories, which reportedly has ties to China's military.

  • The book suggests that these associations have compromised California's economic and national security interests.

Who is the Greatest Salesperson in The World? The EV Scamdemic

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Elon Musk is arguably the greatest salesman in the world, having convinced the public that Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) are environmentally superior despite significant drawbacks.

  • EVs require six times more minerals than conventional cars, contributing to extensive mining operations that consume vast amounts of energy and produce significant emissions.

  • While EVs may have lower maintenance costs, their heavier weight leads to increased tire wear, higher replacement costs, and greater particle pollution.

  • The production of a single lithium battery demands massive earth-moving efforts, requiring 500,000 pounds of raw material extraction and substantial oil consumption.

  • Despite their green image, EVs may not be as eco-friendly or cost-effective as widely believed, raising questions about their long-term sustainability.

There’s a New Name for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • A new meme for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), "Didn't Earn It," questions whether meritocracy should return as a cultural priority.

  • The article argues that DEI initiatives have contributed to societal division, prioritizing identity over qualifications in hiring, politics, and education.

  • It critiques the shift away from merit-based decision-making, particularly in critical fields like engineering, where skills and expertise should be the primary factors.

  • Academia is cited as a major offender, lowering standards rather than improving educational resources to help struggling students succeed.

  • The overarching concern is that DEI policies, while well-intentioned, may be eroding excellence and long-term societal progress.

“How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love CO2”

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Many high-profile climate change predictions over the past 30+ years, such as Manhattan being underwater by 2015 and an ice-free Arctic by 2013, have failed to come true.

  • Climate change is a natural and ongoing process, with Earth experiencing cycles of ice ages and warm periods for billions of years.

  • The article argues that mainstream climate narratives are influenced by financial incentives rather than objective science.

  • It also claims that efforts to reduce carbon emissions in places like the U.S. and California have little impact, as major polluters like China continue to expand coal and nuclear energy production.

  • Ultimately, the piece challenges the urgency of climate change rhetoric and suggests that global efforts to "save the planet" are misguided.
